Looks like Tarvaris Jackson is in, Vince Young out in Buffalo

Tarvaris Jackson is now a member of the Buffalo Bills, according to the Associated Press. Meanwhile, Vince Young sent out a message via Twitter that suggests he is no long part of the team.

[Updated at 9:44 a.m.: The Bills have announced they have released Young.]

A trade that sends quarterback Jackson from the Seattle Seahawks to the Bills is said to have been completed, although there has been no official confirmation from either team. Seattle Coach Pete Carroll did say Sunday night that a deal was in the works.

Jackson and the Bills reportedly reworked his $4-million salary this season, which the team deemed too high for a player expected to back up starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. The Seahawks are expected to have received a mid- to late-round draft pick from Buffalo.

Jackson had started training camp in a three-way competition with Russell Wilson and Matt Flynn for the Seahawks’ starting spot. Wilson was named the starter over the weekend.

Young, who has been competing to back up Bills starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, appears to have been released by the team. He sent out this tweet Monday morning: “I want to thank the Bills organization for the opportunity and wish the organization and my teammates good luck this season.”

After appearing to have beaten out returning backup Tyler Thigpen for the job, Young struggled in Saturday’s preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, finishing 12 of 26 for 103 yards with two interceptions in playing the entire second half.

Young was the 2006 offensive rookie of the year with the Tennessee Titans, but his career has fizzled since then. He was a disappointment as Michael Vick’s backup in Philadelphia last season.
