Autopsy pending for transgender woman found dead in Anaheim

Authorities said the autopsy of a transgender woman found dead in a parking lot behind an Anaheim restaurant is expected to be completed by Monday, though officials said there were no obvious signs of foul play.

Police anticipate the autopsy will provide answers about her death, which for now is being investigated as suspicious, said Lt. Bob Dunn, spokesman for the Anaheim Police Department.

The woman’s body was spotted Thursday morning in a brushy area near a lot behind the Dairy Queen in the 200 block of North State College Boulevard by a customer who had parked there after ordering food at the drive-thru.

The customer called 911 at about 10:50 a.m. to report a “person down,” Dunn said. Police could not provide any details about the body’s position.

Paramedics were called and pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

There was no evidence or immediate sign of injury that would indicate the woman’s death was a homicide, Dunn said. There were also no reports of any suspicious activity in the area during the night or morning before the body was found.

If the autopsy isn’t able to determine the cause of death, a toxicology report, which could take weeks, will be ordered, Dunn said.

The identity and age of the victim have also not been released.
