Calabasas 76, Quartz Hill 51

Steve Ward and Jim Fagelson combined for 48 points and 14 assists Tuesday night to power Calabasas to a 76-51 victory over Quartz Hill in a non-league game.

Ward had six assists and a game-high 27 points and Fagelson contributed 21 points and eight assists. The Coyotes, 9-5, who led by as many as 35 points in the second half before the substitutes came in, also got an outstanding effort off the boards from Dean Rasmussen, who grabbed 14 rebounds.

The Rebels, 3-7, were led by Bob Johnson’s 15 points.

Agoura 58, Westlake 51

Steve Armstrong scored 17 points and Mike Corridori added 16 as Agoura withstood a third-quarter rally by Westlake for a 58-51 triumph.

The Chargers, 5-7, held a 29-19 lead at the half but the Warriors--led by Rob Bowen’s 19 points--came storming back. They outscored the home team 17-9 in the third period to cut the deficit to two and tied the score early in the fourth quarter before Agoura pulled away from the foul-prone visitors by making 12 of 17 free throws in the last eight minutes.

Nogales 68, Burroughs 63

Bruce Wheatley scored 20 points and offset a 21-point effort from Mike Tidik of Burroughs to lead Nogales to a 68-63 overtime victory over the Indians.

The hosts from Burbank trailed 52-43 after three quarters but erupted in the fourth, outscoring Nogales 14-5 and sending the game into the extra period tied 57-57.

Nogales improved its record to 11-2 with the victory, while Burroughs dropped to 7-6.

Crescenta Valley 82, La Canada 75

Harvey Mason poured in a game-high 38 points while Drew Haberl scored 15, grabbed 14 rebounds and handed out eight assists as Crescenta Valley rolled to an 82-75 non-league victory over visiting La Canada.

The Falcons, who led by as many as 20 points, also got 18 points from Mark Potter as they took a 64-46 advantage after three quarters and coasted the rest of the way to improve their record to 11-4.

The Spartans, 4-8, were led by Rick Augustini, who scored 31 points, and Walt Bakly, who added 16.

St. Francis 72, Notre Dame 64

Senior guard Dan Jordan led all scorers with 25 points and center Matt Dyrek pulled down 11 rebounds to lead host St. Francis to a 72-64 victory over Notre Dame that kept the Knights winless in their three CIF Southern Section games.

St. Francis’ 2-3 zone gave the Golden Knights a quick lead, which they extended to 21-8 after one quarter. Dyrek, a senior, finished with 13 points, six of them in the big first quarter. The victory improved their overall record to 6-8 and 2-1 in league play.

Notre Dame, 3-8, was led by center John Perak, who scored 17 points.

Lintz 77, Clearview 42

Junior Chris McGuire scored 27 points--16 of them in the first half to lead Lintz High School to a 77-42 Westside League win over visiting Clearview.

Lintz jumped out to a 24-14 lead after a quarter and was up, 42-22 at the half.

Sophomore Sam Torbati had 20 points and Joseph Cohen contributed 14 points and 15 rebounds as the Patriots improved their record to 3-1 and 7-2 overall while the Cobras fell to 0-4 in league.
