Cal Lutheran scored twice in the bottom of the ninth inning Tuesday to beat Westmont, 5-4, in an NAIA District III game at Cal Lutheran.

After first baseman Dan Pastor tied the game leading off the inning with a long homer to left, losing pitcher Tom Ashworth got the next two men to ground out. Then Todd Dewey and Fred Perez singled, and Bob Ginther, who had doubled twice, was walked intentionally to load the bases.

Center fielder Ray Kaecker then ended the drama with a single to right that scored pinch runner Eric Helgoth and gave the Kingsmen (6-3, 18-9) and pitcher Dave Mulethaler (3-1) the win.
