Two Northern California brush fires, both possibly set by arsonists, have blackened more than 850 acres, the state Department of Forestry said. One, just north of Platina in Shasta County, charred 205 acres of brush but damaged no structures and caused no injuries. A second blaze, six miles north of Vacaville in Miller Canyon, was only 10% contained. It had blackened more than 650 acres of brush, but no timber or structures were threatened, officials said.
