Darleen Branigan, an assistant basketball coach at Cal State Northridge last season and a former three-year starter for the Lady Matadors, has been named women’s basketball coach at Glendale College.

Phil Feist has been named the new basketball coach at Providence.

More than a dozen area residents fared well in the Southern California Sectional Tennis Championships at UCLA’s Los Angeles Tennis Center last weekend. The results in divisions based on ratings from 1 (novice) to 7 (professional):

Barry and Dana Bierman of Encino won the mens 4.5 doubles title with 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory over Fred Glaser and Dan Cohen of Los Angeles; Ed Tyler of Studio City and Luke Guernsey of Tarzana won the men’s 3.5 doubles division with a 3-6, 7-6, 6-0 win against Greg Langdon and Said Nehrinfar of Los Angeles. In the womens 3.5 doubles, it was Eliza Kosloski and Cheryl Fundter of Los Angeles over Valerie Yale and Pamela Peek of Sherman Oaks, 6-4, 6-2.

In singles, Kyle Pantuliano of Santa Monica won the mens 4.0 division with a 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory over Steve Schnoebelen of Thousand Oaks; Paula Cioffi of Westminster beat Sara Rostand of Sunland, 6-2, 6-1, for the womens 4.0 title; Clark Dubrevil of Irvine won the mens 3.5 division with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Steven Tattersall of Woodland Hills.
