The 18-member Southern Section Executive Council voted down an appeal by the Huntington Beach Ocean View basketball team, which asked to have the 1985 5-A Division runner-up trophy returned and sanctions to keep the Seahawks out of the 1986 playoffs lifted.

Ocean View, which is expected to appeal again to the California Interscholastic Federation, was also put on two years’ probation in August after it was determined that Coach Jim Harris had used “undue influence” to keep Ricky Butler and Desi Hazely, transfers from Lynwood High, at the school.
