Stark Leads Capo Valley to 28-6 Win

Scott Stark threw three touchdown passes Friday night to lead Capistrano Valley High School to a 28-6 South Coast League win over San Clemente in front of 800 in Thassal Stadium.

Stark threw scoring passes of 15, 73 and 4 yards. The 6-foot 3-inch senior completed 17 of 30 pass attempts for 283 yards. He was intercepted twice, including once in the end zone to end the Cougars’ opening drive.

Stark broke open a 14-0 game with a 73-yard pass play to Richard Grant for a touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter.

On the Cougars’ next possession, Stark completed five straight passes. The 50-yard drive ended when Stark found Nathan Call open in the corner of the end zone for a four-yard scoring pass.

Call, who intercepted two passes, caught four passes for 36 yards. He also rushed 26 yards in two attempts.

Todd Beightol lead Capistrano Valley (1-1, 4-1) with four receptions for 83 yards.

San Clemente’s only touchdown came on a four-yard pass from Andy Greek to David Arnsten with 10 seconds left in the game.

Tom Greico scored the Cougars’ first touchdown on a one-yard run in the first quarter.

San Clemente is 0-2, 1-2-1.
