Newport Harbor’s Foley Selected Sea View League Player of Year

Shane Foley, Newport Harbor High School quarterback, was named the Sea View League’s Offensive Player of the Year in a vote of league coaches.

Foley, a senior, passed for 2,287 yards and 22 touchdowns during the regular season in leading the Sailors to a co-championship for the second year in a row.

Foley was joined in the all-league backfield by fullback Glenn Campbell of Saddleback and halfbacks Craig Belle of University and David Townsend of Woodbridge.

Tackle Dan O’Connell of Woodbridge was named Defensive Player of the Year, heading a defense in which fellow Warriors DeWayne Armstrong and John Evers also joined him on the first team.
