Girls’ Roundup : Pearson Sisters Lead Mater Dei

Pam Pearson scored 18 points and sister Jan Pearson added 17 to lead Millikan High School to a 49-44 nonleague win over Mater Dei Saturday at Millikan.

Mater Dei (12-6) was led by Noelle Manfre and Hallie Formanack, who each scored 14 points. Geri Gainey added 13.

In other nonleague action:

Brea-Olinda 86, Garden Grove 28--Forward Kristen McPhee had 20 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Wildcats to an easy victory. Brea-Olinda Coach Mark Trakh played all 12 of his players. Carrie Egan and Teri Winder each had 14 points, and reserve point guard Kristen Blair had 8 points and 12 assists.

In Academy League action:

Whittier Christian 76, Orange Lutheran 28--Center Cindy Vyskocil had a career-high 45 points to lead the Heralds (3-0) to a league victory at home. The 6-foot 2-inch Vyskocil made 20 of 48 shot attempts and converted 5 of 6 free throw attempts. Suzanne Bragg had 10 points from Orange Lutheran (1-2, 5-5).
