1-A Girls : Holtville Is Mystery Team to Zuidema

Calvin Christian High School girls' basketball Coach Frank Zuidema doesn't know much about whom his team is playing in the San Diego Section 1-A final at 10:30 a.m. today at the Sports Arena.

"I know we're playing (Mountain-Desert League champion) Holtville," Zuidema said, "but that's about it. About the only thing I know is that we beat Mountain Empire by 45 or 50 points, and (Holtville) beat them by more than that."

Holtville has a better idea about Calvin Christian (20-1). The Vikings watched the Crusaders defeat Parker, 41-38, last Friday to win the Coastal League title and earn a berth in the final.

"They saw what we do, our offense, our press," Zuidema said. "It's good in a way because they didn't see my best player play."

Zuidema was refering to senior center Elsa Willenberg, who scored nine points but played only five minutes against Parker after getting in early foul trouble. Willenberg led the team in scoring (14.0 average).
