Newport Harbor Is Beaten by Gahr

Gahr High School scored a run in the sixth inning and two in the seventh Thursday to defeat Newport Harbor, 4-1, in a nonleague baseball game at Newport Harbor.

The Gladiators and Sailors were originally scheduled to play a doubleheader at Costa Mesa’s TeWinkle Park, but rain forced the schools to play a single game on the quick-draining Newport Harbor field.

Jon Mahoney (1-3) pitched a complete game and took the loss for Newport Harbor (2-6).
