Conrad Resigns as Loara Coach

Loara High School is seeking its fifth varsity basketball coach in the past five years after the resignation of Craig Conrad.

Conrad said Thursday that he decided to resign after learning that he would lose his position as a history teacher next school year because of declining enrollment at Loara. As the last teacher hired there, he was scheduled to be moved to another high school or junior high.

“When I knew that my teaching position was being transferred out of school, I felt it was in the best interests for me and for the program that they find somebody else, since I wasn’t going to be on the campus to coach,” he said.

“I’d like to leave on a positive note for myself and Loara. I really enjoyed working with Ray Moore, who is a good person and a good athletic director, and a lot of the other people.”

Conrad, 33, was coach at Perris High School for three seasons and Los Alamitos for four seasons. In his one season at Loara, which has not had a winning season in more than five years, the Saxons went 0-21.
