Burroughs Edges Notre Dame in 5 Games

Burroughs High defeated Notre Dame, 15-3, 14-16, 12-15, 15-9 and 15-6 in a season-opening, preseason girls volleyball match Friday at Burroughs.

“This could be the best team I’ll have for a long time,” said Linda Murphy, who is in her second year as Burroughs’ coach.

Six players return to the Indians from a team that finished second in the Foothill League last season and had an overall record of 16-4. Senior Mary Ann Wagner and junior Debbie Penney are two of the outstanding players in the area, Murphy said.
