Thousand Oaks Wins Behind Chellevold

Thousand Oaks High got off to a slow start, but rallied on the play of Julie Chellevold and Beth Welch to defeat La Reina in a nonleague volleyball match Thursday, 14-16, 15-8, 15-6, 15-5.

The Lancers relied on the senior setter Welch and outside hitter Chellevold, who had 13 kills. Senior middle blocker Kristin McIntyre had 10 blocks for Thousand Oaks.

In other nonleague contests Montclair Prep defeated Rio Hondo, 15-8, 12-15, 15-12, 3-15, 15-12, John Burroughs swept Bellarmine-Jefferson, 15-3, 15-13, 15-6, and Chaminade downed Westlake, 15-9, 9-15, 15-11, 12-15, 15-3.
