La Jolla Rolls to Win Over Christian, 31-13

Brad Mathews rushed 17 times for 104 yards and quarterbacks Doug Powell and John Tribolet combined on 9 of 13 passing for 177 yards and 2 touchdowns to lead host La Jolla (2-0) to a 31-13 victory over Christian (0-2). La Jolla scored on five of its first seven possessions.

Lincoln 37, O’Dea of Seattle 0--Keith Mitchell completed 10 of 14 passes for 222 yards and 4 touchdowns to lead Lincoln. Patrick Rowe caught three passes for 103 yards and 2 touchdowns as Lincoln, ranked No. 3 in The Times poll, improved its record to 2-0. The Lincoln defense as yet to surrender a single point.
