Burns Is Named to Replace Read as Chapman’s Volleyball Coach

John Burns, volleyball coach at Mission Viejo High School since 1981, has been named men’s volleyball coach at Chapman College, Athletic Director Walt Bowman announced Tuesday.

Burns, a 1976 graduate of Laguna Beach High School, played volleyball for two years at San Diego State. In addition to coaching the Mission Viejo boys’ team, he has also coached the girls’ team at Westminster High School the past three seasons.

The 1987 season will be the second on the varsity level for the Panthers. Women’s Coach Tom Read coached the men’s team last season.
