Mira Costa 3, Sweewater 0--A day after advancing to the state girls’ volleyball tournament, Sweetwater was eliminated in 44 minutes by Mira Costa, the top-seeded team in the large schools division, 15-6, 15-1, 15-5.
Mira Costa (20-0), the Ocean League champion, wasted no time extending its winning streak to 52 straight matches. During one run in the eight-minute second game, Mira Costa, ranked No. 1 in the nation by Volleyball Monthly, scored 12 unanswered points, scoring eight on Heather Bowa’s service aces.
Sweetwater finished the season 31-3.
