Orange County Boys’ Basketball : Guild Leads Marina Over Mission Viejo

Times Staff Writer

In spite of the emergence of center Mark Georgeson this season, Marina High School’s 71-45 victory over Mission Viejo in the second round of the Irvine World News Tournament at UC Irvine proved that the Vikings are anything but a one-player team.

Georgeson’s presence was certainly felt--he had 14 points, including 3 dunks, and 6 rebounds--but his teammates showed that those who concentrate on Georgeson will get burned.

Scoring mainly on jump shots, Marina (7-0) gained a 16-6 lead, and held a 32-15 halftime lead.
