La Quinta High School goalie Leslie Schneider made the deciding penalty kick in a girls’ soccer match against Kennedy Monday, advancing the Aztecs to the final of the Cerritos girls’ tournament.

La Quinta and Kennedy tied, 2-2, but went to a shoot-out to determine which team advanced.

Two of Kennedy’s three penalty kicks went over the goal, and Schneider made her kick to put La Quinta ahead, 4-2.

“I always like to give my goalie a chance to win the game,” said Bill Wilson, La Quinta coach. “She had worked hard.”
