The North Hollywood girls basketball team easily beat Granada Hills, 67-46, in a nonleague game Wednesday, but Huskies Coach Rich Allen still wasn’t pleased.

“We have yet to put together four solid quarters of effort,” he said.

North Hollywood, led by Ysraelya Horner’s 11 points, started the third quarter with a 44-24 lead.

Granada Hills guard Sandy Kuranishi, who scored a team-high 16 points, had two consecutive steals and a three-point play in the middle of the quarter, giving the Scots some inspiration.

But Granada Hills’ hopes were dashed in the fourth quarter by the consistent play of Huskie guard Leti Carranza, who had eight points and six assists. Allen described Carranza as an “intense team leader.”

After Granada Hills (1-1) scored the first basket of the game, North Hollywood (4-2) outscored the Scots, 16-2. The Huskies were led by forward Debbie Herz, who scored 25 points and had 14 rebounds.

The second quarter began with three-point plays by North Hollywood’s Sandrine Rocher and Karrie King. The Scots outscored the Huskies, 9-4, in the closing minutes of the first half, but still trailed, 32-20.
