Sidekicks Deal Lazers Their First Shutout

The Los Angeles Lazers were shut out for the first time since joining the Major Indoor Soccer League in 1982 Friday night, as they lost to the Dallas Sidekicks, 2-0, at Dallas.

The shutout was also the first ever for the Sidekicks (15-7), who took over sole possession of first place in the Eastern Division.

The Lazers fall to 6-13 and remained in last place in the West.

Dallas broke the scoreless tie when Brazilian forward Tatu took a pass from Marcio Leite and scored his league-leading 29th goal with four seconds left in the first half.

Leite scored the game’s other goal in the fourth quarter, his 17th of the season.

The Lazers, who managed only 11 shots in the game, will play host to the Minnesota Strikers tonight at 7:30 at the Forum.
