The PCAA : Long Beach to Meet San Jose St.

Share

Cal State Long Beach will try to erase the memory of its worst basketball game of the season when the 49ers play San Jose State tonight at 7:30 in the university gym.

On Jan. 3 at San Jose, the 49ers made only 31% of their shots and lost to the Spartans, 73-56. After a three-hour postgame meeting between Coach Ron Palmer and his players, Palmer promised that the 49ers would never have another game like that.

Since then, Long Beach has won six of eight Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. games. The 49ers, 11-10 overall, are 6-3 in the PCAA and in second place.

Guard Morlon Wiley, who had 22 points against Utah State, leads the 49ers in scoring with a 13.1 average.

San Jose State is 9-9 and 5-4 after losing at New Mexico State Thursday night, 72-43.
