HIGH SCHOOL HIGHLIGHTS : Dameworth, Drossin Lead Agoura Win

Bryan Dameworth and Deena Drossin led Agoura to an impressive win in the Frontier League cross-country finals Thursday at Paramount Ranch in Agoura.

Dameworth, who placed third in last year’s Southern Section 2-A championships as a freshman, won his second consecutive league title, running the three-mile course in 15 minutes, 18 seconds. Teammates Peter Oviatt (16:16) and Derek Kite (16:09) placed second and third as Agoura scored 19 points. Santa Paula (59) and Nordhoff (65) finished second and third.

Drossin, who set a freshman course record at Saturday’s Mt. SAC Invitational, won the girls race in 18:08. Freshman teammate Tiffany York was second (18:44) and Andrea DellaMonica of Calabasas was third (19:33).

Agoura, the No. 1 ranked team in the 2-A Division, scored 24 points, well ahead of Nordhoff (40) and Santa Paula (94).

The top three teams and individuals qualified for the Southern Section preliminaries at Mt. SAC on Nov. 7.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Thousand Oaks d. Westlake, 15-10, 15-3, 15-10--Thousand Oaks, ranked No. 1 among Southern Section 2-A teams, finished an undefeated Marmonte League schedule with a win at Thousand Oaks. Julie Chellevold led the Lancers with 13 kills. Amy Chellevold had four kills. Westlake finished at 3-13, 3-9 in league play.

Royal d. Camarillo, 15-6, 15-7, 16-14----Royal finished second in the Marmonte League with a win at Camarillo. Amy Sodek scored 15 points and Chris Jones had 16 kills, including seven in the final game for Royal (11-3, 10-2).

Newbury Park d. Channel Islands, 15-1, 15-2, 15-5----Newbury Park, (12-4, 8-4) finished third in the Marmonte League with a convincing win at Newbury Park. Julie Cutright led the Panthers with seven kills. Susan Pasquini came off the bench to register three kills.

Cleveland d. Van Nuys, 15-0, 6-15, 15-2----Nancy Nicholls led visiting Cleveland (9-1, 8-1) with 10 kills and 14 points overall in a Valley 3-A League match at Van Nuys.

Girls Tennis Chaminade 12, Louisville, 6----No. 1 singles player Abigail Villena easily defeated Louisville’s top three players at Studio City Racquet Center as Chaminade, ranked No.1 among Southern Section 2-A schools, remained undefeated in San Fernando Valley League play.

Grant 6, Marshall, 1----Stacy Kolker, Hallie Wetzell, Karen Berelowitz and Naomi Katz all won singles matches for Grant (4-0).
