When its passing game soured, the Agoura High girls volleyball team turned to setter Dawn Krenik for help and she responded, leading the Chargers to a 15-9, 13-15, 16-14, 16-14 victory over Burroughs on Tuesday night in the Southern Section 3-A Division quarterfinals at Burroughs.

“She did a really good job,” Agoura Coach Steve Gazzinga said. “She really took control.”

Krenik was all over the court, chasing down passes and turning them into Agoura points. She teamed with middle hitter Shannon Matthew on a quick spike that was unstoppable. Matthew finished with 14 kills.

Krenik, a 5-foot, 7-inch senior, also had 10 kills and numerous blocks, including a few against Burroughs’ 6-3 middle hitter, Quaif Chiracheve. Debbie Penney led Burroughs with 20 kills.
