Bausley Runs Roughshod Over Valley Record Book

Dondre Bausley’s performance in Valley’s 68-3 win over Victor Valley last week was a sensational finale for the sophomore running back from L. A. Lutheran High. Bausley, who carried 22 times for 331 yards and 5 touchdowns, was named state running back of the week by the JC Athletic Bureau. He also broke his own school single-game rushing record of 316 yards set last season against Antelope Valley.

“One of my goals early in the season was to break the single-game record so it wouldn’t seem like last year was luck,” said Bausley, who played just one year of high school football. “Last year against Antelope Valley, I just hit the hole and ran. This time, I hit the hole, threw a couple of moves then ran. I’m glad I finished strong.”

Bausley finished the regular season as the state’s leading rusher (145.4 yards per game) and scorer (134 points).

Other Bausley records include:

Rushing for 2,136 yards in his career, breaking the school record of 1,964 set by Bob Barber in 1970 and ’71.

Scoring 22 touchdowns this season, breaking the record of 16 set by Floyd Perry in 1975.

Scoring 32 career touchdowns, which broke Terrel Ray’s record of 18 set in 1964 and ’65.

Scoring 134 points, breaking the record of 96 set by Perry in 1975.

Valley (8-2) outscored its opponents, 410-156, eclipsing the previous mark of 355 set in 1975. The Monarchs gained 4,507 total yards to break the record of 4,368 set in 1975.
