PREP FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS / DESERT-MOUNTAIN CONFERENCE : Woodbridge Romps Over St. Genevieve, 35-0

Woodbridge High School quarterback Fred Schweer threw two 33-yard touchdown passes to lead the Warriors to a 35-0 victory over St. Genevieve Friday night in the first round of the Southern Section Desert-Mountain Conference playoffs at Irvine High School.
Woodbridge (10-1), which will play Paso Robles Friday in the second round at a site to be determined, held St. Genevieve (6-5) to four yards rushing and dominated the Valiants from the outset.
Most of the 98 passing yards gained by St. Genevieve came in the final quarter when the game had already been decided.
Woodbridge ran 52 offensive plays and St. Genevieve just 39.
Schweer completed 7 of 14 passes for 139 yards and the 2 touchdowns. His 33-yard scoring pass to wide receiver Dax Jordan boosted the Warriors’ lead to 21-0 in the second quarter. Wide receiver Derrick Odum caught a 33-yard touchdown pass from Schweer in the third quarter and Woodbridge led, 35-0. Odum had 4 catches for 69 yards.
Running back John Rios gained 83 of Woodbridge’s 126 yards on the ground. His 42-yard touchdown run in the first quarter gave the Warriors a 7-0 lead.
Woodbridge extended the margin to 14-0 when John Derosa broke through to block a punt and Demian Hartman picked it up and ran 21 yards for the score.
The Warriors’ other touchdown came on a five-yard run by Jimmy Burke.
