Marina, which came into the tournament 2-6-1 and is now 6-7-1, threatened several times in the second half. Midway through the half, Darrin Fishman scored, but the goal was disallowed because of an offsides call.

“I’m delighted that we made it to the championship game,” said Marina Coach Dave McLeish, the tournament coordinator. “We have a very young team, and we’re really coming along.”

Both Marina and Palos Verdes are dominated by juniors.

“Our kids are very fast and hustle to the ball,” said Alan King, the Palos Verdes coach.

He praised defender Leo Lundy’s ability to stop Fishman, who scored the Vikings’ three goals in two victories Tuesday.

He also praised Marina fullback Mike Lapper, who continued to get the ball to his teammates, though they were unable to score.

In the third-place match:

Simi Valley 2, Saddleback 1 (OT)--Saddleback took a 1-0 halftime lead on a goal by Carlos Zavala, his ninth of the tournament.
