World Boxing Council flyweight champion Sot Chitalada of Thailand stopped ninth-ranked Hideaki Kamishiro of Japan in the seventh round of a scheduled 12-round bout at Osaka, Japan, to retain his crown.

Sot successfully defended the 112-pound title for the sixth time since gaining it from Mexico’s Gabriel Bernal in 1984.

In the seventh round, Kamishiro suffered a gash above his left eye. Cut and bleeding from both eyes, Kamishiro fell to his knees and the fight was stopped.
