4 From Valley College Select Schools in West

Valley College linebackers Lance Ane and Joe Zacharia, defensive back Troy Coopman and running Pat Hardy gave verbal commitments to four-year schools Thursday and will sign letters of intent Wednesday.

Ane (6-2 1/2, 230 pounds), an all-state selection and the Southern California Conference defensive player of the year, will attend Colorado State.

Zacharia (6-0, 230), who was all-conference and second team all-state, chose Nevada Las Vegas over Nevada Reno.

“It’s a Division I school and I can come in and be a factor right away,” Zacharia said. “I can test my own skills there. Now I’ll be able to see what I’m made of.”

Ane played at Saugus High and Zacharia at Canyon High.

Coopman, who played the entire season with a broken hand, will attend Idaho State and Hardy committed to Idaho.
