Granada Hills High tight end Sean Brown, who caught 56 passes for 605 yards and 11 touchdowns for the City Section 4-A Division championship Highlanders last season, has decided to postpone signing a letter of intent to attend Arizona State University.

Brown, a Times All-Valley selection, said he opted for ASU because he would be allowed to play baseball as well as football. But the 6-3, 210-pound senior was advised by his mother Wednesday night not to sign until a later date. Brown earlier had said that he would sign Wednesday night.

“I just liked Arizona State, so that’s why I’m going there,” Brown said. “If I went to UCLA, I wouldn’t be able to play both football and baseball.

Brown was unavailable for further comment Wednesday.

In other signings, Saugus’ Lamark Allen signed with Weber State, a Division I-AA school that competes in the Big Sky Conference.

Allen, who played running back, defensive back and returned kicks, gained 898 yards in 138 carries (6.5 average), caught 20 passes for 344 yards and scored 19 total touchdowns.
