Ventura County career rushing leader Marc Monestime of Thousand Oaks High heads a group of four county players who have been selected to play for the South team in this year’s Shrine all-star football game.

All four--Monestime, Camarillo’s Gil Valencia, Channel Islands’ Roger Jones and Royal’s Eric Anhalt--are from Marmonte League schools. In addition, linebackers Mack Humphrey of Thousand Oaks and Steve Dailey of Ventura were selected as alternates.

The four selections are the most ever from the county for the game, generally acknowledged as the most prestigious all-star game in the state.
