Muir Must Forfeit Basketball Wins

Share

Muir High School of Pasadena, which forfeited all its wins going into the last week of the football season because of a clerical error and missed the playoffs, was knocked out of the basketball playoffs Friday by another paper work mix-up. An unnamed player, who also went undetected as a member of the football team, was declared ineligible for being in his fifth year of high school, causing Muir to forfeit its 14 wins and another Pacific League title.

With the Southern Section pairings being announced Sunday, Muir, of the 4-A Division, is out. Glendale becomes the league champion, with Hoover of Glendale second, and Crescenta Valley of La Crescenta making the postseason as the third-place team.

Muir, which had rebounded from a 2-6 start to end the regular season 14-9 overall and 8-2 in league, is officially 0-23.
