Marmonte Teams in 4-A Soccer Final

Newbury Park High School will play Royal of Simi in the boys’ game, and Mission Viejo will face West Torrance in the girls’ game of the Southern Section 4-A soccer finals doubleheader tonight at Gahr High in Cerritos. The girls’ game will start at 6, the boys’ at 8.

Two Marmonte League teams will square off in the boys’ game. Top seeded Royal (25-1-2) reached the final with a 2-0 victory over Palos Verdes Tuesday. Newbury Park (19-5-1) defeated Fountain Valley in the semifinals, 3-0.

In the girls’ game, top-seeded and two-time defending 4-A champion Mission Viejo (25-0-2) advanced to the final with a 4-3 victory over Torrance that was decided on penalty kicks after a scoreless tie in regulation. West Torrance (15-4-6), the Bay League champion, reached the final with a 3-0 victory over Capistrano Valley.
