Roundup : Jacobs Is Perfect for Fullerton

Kristin Jacobs pitched a perfect game as Fullerton College defeated Mt. San Antonio, 5-0, in a South Coast Conference softball game Friday at Fullerton.

It was the first perfect game of the season for Jacobs, a freshman who is 18-1. She had five strikeouts.

Fullerton (25-4, 6-0) scored one run in the second and four in the third. Linda Morales had a triple to drive in a run in the third, and she scored on an error.

In another South Coast Conference game:

Golden West 8, Long Beach 0--Jennifer Pattinson pitched a two-hitter, had two hits and scored two runs for host Golden West (7-9, 3-3).

In Orange Empire Conference softball:

Saddleback 12, Orange Coast 1--Patti Taylor (19-2) pitched a two-hitter for visiting Saddleback (20-3, 7-0) at Orange Coast. Tiffany Caressi was 3 for 3 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored.

Rancho Santiago 5, Riverside 3--Lolly Figueroa was 2 for 3 with a triple, and Lisa Peterson had 2 hits, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored for Rancho Santiago (8-9, 4-3).

Cypress 7, Citrus 1--Noel Parker (8-4) pitched a six-hitter for visiting Cypress (14-7, 6-1).

In South Coast Conference volleyball:

Golden West 3, Orange Coast 0--Ron Smith had 20 kills to lead host Golden West (6-3, 6-3) to a 15-12, 15-3, 15-10 victory.

In Orange Empire Conference men’s track:

Orange Coast 85 1/2, Saddleback 55 1/2--Wayne Martin had a long jump of 22 feet, and Mike Smyser won the shot put at 45-10 1/2 in the victory for Orange Coast (3-1, 2-1).

In Orange Empire Conference women’s track:

Saddleback 79, Orange Coast 49--Michelle Stevens won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.8 seconds, the 100 meters in 13.11 and the 400 low hurdles in 1:08 to lead visiting Saddleback.

In South Coast Conference women’s track:

Cerritos 77, Fullerton 52--Fullerton’s Anna Gill won the shot put (42 1/2 feet), javelin (137 1/2 feet) and discus (123 feet).

In nonconference men’s tennis:

Saddleback 6, MiraCosta 3--Mark Hansen defeated Tim Stucki, 6-3, 6-4, then teamed with Russ Decker to beat Stucki and Bran Seiple, 6-2, 6-2, to lead Saddleback (11-1) at MiraCosta.
