Roundup : Pitcher 10-0 for Hoover

Just when it appeared that Felipe Preciado would finally lose, his Hoover High School teammates scored three times in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 6-5 Central League victory over Lincoln Thursday.

Preciado raised his record to 10-0 and had seven strikeouts. Teammate Danny Carter hit a two-run double to tie the game, 5-5, and Ryan Rusich singled in Carter.

Hoover (17-7, 10-2) overcame five errors. Merle Nowdan’s two-run single gave Lincoln (3-16, 2-9) a 5-3 lead.

CITY WESTERN

La Jolla 8, University City 5--Willie Barnett had 2 hits and 3 runs batted in, and Brad Raulston had a bases-empty home run for No. 8 La Jolla (16-5, 10-2). Jim Shafer hit a two-run homer for University City (7-14, 1-10).

Clairemont 5, Kearny 1--Julio Rodriquez tripled in two runs, and Vic Beltran pitched a three-hitter for visiting Clairemont.

CITY EASTERN LEAGUE Madison 8, Patrick Henry 5--Eight different Madison players had RBIs and Devin Fitzmaurice ran his record to 10-0. Mark Hallisey was 3 for 5 and Buzz Brown 2 for 3 for No. 1 Madison (20-2, 10-2). Patrick Henry is 10-10 and 5-6.

Serra 3, Morse 0--Todd Baham gained his first victory in five decisions, striking out 9 and allowing only 3 hits. For Serra (8-13, 4-7), Brian Gowan had 2 hits and 2 RBIs, and Robbie Knight had 2 singles and 3 stolen bases.

METRO CONFERENCE

Chula Vista 1, Sweetwater 0--Deano Arellano singled home the lone run in the second for Chula Vista (10-11, 7-2). Juan Lopez was 3 for 3 for Sweetwater (12-10-1, 6-3).

Hilltop 9, Montgomery 5--Second baseman Larry Beebe went 3 for 3 and drove in 2 runs for Hilltop (5-11, 4-4). Rob DePerro (4-1) went the distance and Joe Calabria hit a two-run homer in the second for Hilltop (5-11, 4-4). Montgomery is 14-8 and 5-4.

Bonita Vista 8, Southwest 7--Craig Catlin hit a two-run home run, and Matt Gibbs pitched four innings of one-run relief for visiting Bonita Vista (15-7, 6-3). Teddy Ehrhardt had a run-scoring double and Casey June a run-scoring triple for Bonita Vista. Southwest is 1-18 and 0-9.

Castle Park 12, Coronado 3--Hector Mejia had 2 hits, scored 3 runs and drove in 2 more for visiting Castle Park (20-3, 8-1). Cesar Gutierrez had 2 hits and 2 runs, and Chris Morris had 3 hits and 2 RBIs for No. 6 Castle Park. Junior Juan Beltran (7-2) allowed only five hits.

Mar Vista 6, Marian 3--Host Mar Vista overcame a home run by Dave Powers.
