Southern Section Tennis Playoffs : Dana Hills Seeded No. 1; Edison Is 2nd

The Dana Hills High School boys’ tennis team, top-ranked for most of the season, was seeded No. 1 in the Southern Section 4-A playoff pairings announced Tuesday.
The Dolphins, the South Coast League champions, have a bye in the first round and play the winner of the Hoover-Redlands match in the second round May 20.
First-round matches in all divisions are scheduled for May 17 at 3:15 p.m.
Edison, the Sunset League champion, was seeded second and plays host to Arcadia, the Pacific League’s No. 3 entry, on Tuesday. Canyon, the Century League champion, which won a league title for the first time in the school’s 14-year tennis history, was seeded fourth. Canyon plays host to No. 3 seed Lakewood of the Moore League.
In 5-A, Newport Harbor, the Sea View League champion, was seeded second and plays host to Redondo, an at-large entry. Corona del Mar, the Sea View League runner-up, was seeded fourth and plays host to Buena, the Channel League runner-up, Tuesday.
University, which was third in the Sea View League and the defending 5-A champion, was unseeded, playing at Santa Monica.
Beverly Hills was seeded No. 1, and Santa Barbara, the defending runner-up, was seeded third.
In 3-A, Woodbridge, the No. 1 team from the Pacific Coast League, was seeded second and plays Sonora, the Freeway League’s No. 3 entry.
Empire League champion Los Alamitos was seeded third and plays host to Upland, the Baseline League’s No. 3 team.
Laguna Beach and top singles player Jonathan Leach took the No. 4 seed and play host to Cerritos, the San Gabriel Valley League’s runner-up.
Valencia, the Orange League champion, was seeded fourth in 2-A and plays Ontario, the No. 3 team from the Hacienda League.
