Back at full strength, the Sylmar Palomino baseball team departed Tuesday for its next stop, the Western Zone tournament at P.A.L. Stadium in San Jose.

Infielder Denny Vigo and pitcher Mike Roberts sat out a 6-3 win over Harbor in the Coast Region final Monday because their eligibility was disputed by Harbor Coach Jim O’Brien. However, officials have determined that the players live within designated boundaries and are indeed eligible.

Sylmar won three games in a row after falling into the elimination bracket of the region tournament. Sylmar beat Covina on Sunday afternoon and Harbor on Sunday and Monday nights to win the tournament, avenging a 7-1 loss to Harbor on Saturday.

The championship game is scheduled for Sunday at noon. The zone winner advances to next week’s Palomino World Series in Greensboro, N. C.
