Fullback Ralph DelaTorre ran for two second-half touchdowns to lead El Rancho (2-1) to a 16-0 victory over La Habra Friday night at El Rancho High.

El Rancho led only 3-0 at halftime, but DelaTorre ran in from 7 yards out on the Dons’ first possession of the second half to give El Rancho a 9-0 lead. The run culminated an 80-yard drive in 11 plays.

DelaTorre’s other score came on a 5-yard run with 18 seconds left to seal the victory. The senior fullback finished with 80 yards in 20 carries.

Defensively, the El Rancho front four of Chris Grajales, Francisco Astorga, Robert Gonzalez and Robert Garcia constantly pressured La Habra quarterback Al Razo and sacked him 4 times.

Razo, making his first start of the year after recovering from an off-season shoulder injury, completed only 2 of 12 passes for 12 yards.

La Habra (0-3) has scored just 6 points this season and has been shut out in its past 11 quarters.

La Habra’s best chance of scoring came with 1:13 left in the first half when Dan Ledieff recovered a fumbled punt at the El Rancho 41-yard line. But the Highlanders gained only 12 yards in 4 plays before the half expired.
