Thousand Oaks, Camarillo to Stage Marmonte Run-Off

Thousand Oaks High, trying to regain its championship form of a season ago, plays Camarillo at 7:30 tonight in a Marmonte League game at Thousand Oaks.

The contest pits teams against each other that rely on their ability to run the ball. Camarillo has rushed for 830 of its 1,192 total yards. Thousand Oaks has rushed for 624 of its 775 yards.

Junior Mike Lindsay leads Thousand Oaks with 365 yards and 2 touchdowns in 72 carries. Quarterback Anthony Gonzales did not complete a pass in a 21-0 victory over Simi Valley last week and threw 2 interceptions.

Camarillo running back Kris Kirksey, a sophomore, has 475 yards in 75 carries.

Thousand Oaks has one of the Valley-area’s top defenses, having allowed only 803 yards. Camarillo has allowed 1,113 yards.

Both teams are 2-2, 1-0 in league play. Camarillo defeated Royal, 9-6, last week when Kirksey rushed for 184 yards.

In another Southern Section game tonight, La Canada plays Hoover at Glendale High in a nonleague game at 7:30.

Hoover (1-2-1) is led by quarterback Steve Solano and running back Chad Rinn. Solano is 29 for 68 for 312 yards and Rinn has rushed for a team-high 136 yards.

Hoover gained just 107 yards in a 28-0 loss to San Marino last week.
