High School Soccer : Wight Leads Way as L. A. Baptist Opens With Rout

Shane Wight scored 5 goals and added 2 assists to lead L.A. Baptist to a 9-1 victory over Montclair Prep in an Alpha League boys’ soccer opener Friday at Village Christian.

Mark Marshall added 2 goals and an assist for L. A. Baptist (9-4).

Agoura 6, Nordhoff 1--Senior forward Matt Freedman scored 3 goals and Tim Ward had 2 assists to lead the Chargers in their Frontier League opener at Agoura. Eric Pratts added a goal and paced the defense for Agoura (10-2-1).

Chaminade 2, Oak Park 1--Steve Roberts and Greg Baumgartner each scored goals for Chaminade (6-2) in a nonleague game at Oak Park.

GIRLS

Agoura 4, Nordhoff 1--Jill Gallegos scored 2 goals and Julie Tingle added a goal and 2 assists for Agoura in a Frontier League opener at Nordhoff. The Chargers (13-0) have won 65 consecutive games since December 1986.
