High School Girls’ Basketball : Hightower, Reseda Leave Grant in Shambles, 75-32

Senior guard Cheryl Hightower, who will attend Cal State Fullerton in the fall, recorded a triple double with 16 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists as two-time defending City Section 3-A Division champion Reseda flattened Grant, 75-32, Wednesday in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Reseda. Junior guard Denisha Jordan scored 25 points and added 5 assists for Reseda (7-3, 2-0 in conference play).

North Hollywood 81, Birmingham 33--Michelle Cabaldon and Jacinda Sweet each scored 18 points to lead the Huskies (9-3, 2-0) to an easy Valley Pac-8 Conference win at home. Claudia Rocha added 12 points and 9 rebounds, and Shelby Serpa came off the bench to add 6 points and 7 assists.

Charlie Johnson scored 13 points to lead Birmingham.

Hart 69, Burbank 26--Nikki Brodowy scored a game-high 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as host Hart, off to its best start, improved to 13-2 overall, 2-0 in Foothill League play.

Sarah Wilson scored 22 points and cleared 8 rebounds for Hart. Kelly Helsley scored 11 points to lead Burbank (0-2 in league play).

Thousand Oaks 59, Newbury Park 52--Shani Smyth scored 9 of her team-high 17 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Lancers in a Marmonte League game at Thousand Oaks. Michelle Palmisano added 16 points and Sue Kama had 11 for Thousand Oaks (15-2, 3-0).

Senior guard Marlo Cormier scored 35 for Newbury Park.

El Camino Real 64, Granada Hills 24--Lisa Huffaker paced visiting El Camino Real with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 7 steals in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Granada Hills. Alex Guidi added 14 points and 15 rebounds for El Camino Real.

Van Nuys 67, Poly 27--Stacey Toon scored 19 points and grabbed 17 rebounds for the Wolves (7-3, 2-0) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Van Nuys.
