Loyola, USIU to Play in Encore of 162-144 Game
- Share via
Loyola Marymount will play its last nonconference game--and have perhaps its last shot at national scoring records--when the Lions play host to U.S. International University at 7:30 tonight.
Loyola defeated the Gulls earlier this month in San Diego, 162-144, setting a National Collegiate Athletic Assn. Division I record by scoring 93 points in the first half. Five players scored 30 or more points in that game, and the teams combined for a Division I record 306 points.
Since the start of West Coast Athletic Conference play, the scoring pace has slowed a bit for the Lions (11-7), though they continue to average 109.8 points, led by Hank Gathers’ 33 a game. USIU is 8-13.
