High School Roundup : Weil Keeps ERA at 0.00 With No-Hitter for Hart

Junior Kym Weil pitched a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts Thursday to lead visiting Hart High to a 5-0 Foothill League softball victory over Schurr.

Weil (13-1), who walked two and faced only 23 batters, has not allowed an earned run in 93 innings this season. She has faced 317 batters and stuck out 163. It was Weil’s second no-hitter this season.

“She’s had some better games and she’s had some games, probably, not as good,” said Coach Al Weil, Kym’s father.

Hart (15-1, 2-0 in league play), ranked second in the Southern Section 4-A Division, scored a run in the second inning on a leadoff home run by catcher Stephanie Keeler.

The Indians added a run in the fourth and three in the sixth. Krissy Carpenter singled twice and had two runs batted in. Jamie Dean was three for four. Keeler was two for three.

In other softball games:

Thousand Oaks 7, Camarillo 3--Amy Chellevold hit a three-run home run and tripled for Thousand Oaks (15-3, 6-0) as the Lancers remained in first place in the Marmonte League.

Alicia Zinner pitched a complete game to notch the victory, striking out 10. Tricia Gregoire and Jamie Heggen each had two hits and an RBI.

Simi Valley 4, Westlake 0--Heather Santiago (9-1) fell two outs shy of pitching a perfect game and settled for a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts in a Marmonte League game at Simi Valley.

Simi Valley (16-5, 5-1) scored all its runs in the third. Gina Skinner and Carrie Tofte each had run-scoring singles, Amy Powell drove in a run on a ground out and Skinner scored on a wild pitch.

La Reina 5, Fillmore 0--Sherri Sisco pitched her second no-hitter of the season and the fifth of her career for La Reina in a Tri-Valley League game at Fillmore. Sisco, a junior right-hander, struck four and walked six.

Heidi Heinl doubled in two runs in a three-run fourth inning for La Reina (4-3, 3-1). Sandi Reese had two hits and one RBI for La Reina.

Moorpark 14, Bishop Diego 3--Rhonda Gann and Michelle Lopez each tripled for Moorpark, which benefitted from 17 walks in a Tri-Valley League game.

Antelope Valley 1, Saugus 0--Antelope Valley (12-7, 2-0) scored an unearned run in the 11th inning of the Golden League contest to hand Saugus (9-7, 1-1) its sixth 1-0 loss this season.

Saugus senior Cathy Lewis struck out 16 and walked two while pitching a five-hitter. Antelope Valley’s Debby Liske pitched a four-hitter with 14 strikeouts.

Coast Christian 11, L.A. Lutheran 10--L. A. Lutheran rallied for four runs in the seventh inning of the Heritage League game, but stranded the potential tying and winning runs.

GOLF

Calabasas 209, Harvard 227--Bennett Fisher shot a four-over-par 40 to lead Calabasas (9-7) in a nonleague match at Lakeside Country Club. Mark Anten shot 43 to lead Harvard.
