Simi Valley’s Pate Struggles at U. S. Open
Steve Pate of Simi Valley shot a three-over-par 73 Saturday and trails leader Tom Kite by 11 strokes after 54 holes of play in the 89th U. S. Open in Rochester, N.Y.
Pate’s three-day total of 74-69-73--216 left him tied for 11th place with eight other players, including Hal Sutton, Pate’s partner for today’s final round over the 6,902-yard East course at Oak Hill Country Club.
