Lineman, Back Suffer Injuries in SDSU Drills
Defensive lineman George Glaze and running back Ron Slack were injured in football workouts at San Diego State Thursday.
Glaze, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound freshman from San Fernando, injured his hip during pass rushing drills when he slipped, and someone fell on him. He is out indefinitely. Slack, a 5-11, 190-pound senior who was competing at running back with Darrin Wagner, sprained an ankle but should be back in a couple of days.
Eric Miller, a senior defensive lineman from Helix High School, was added to the roster as a walk-on.
GOLF
Leta Lindley of Carlsbad finished the third round of the Junior Tournament of Champions in a tie for first place with Kellie Daniel of Tampa, Fla., in the girls’ 12-18 division. Each totaled 222; Lindley has shot 73-74-75.
Liz Bowman of Bonita was 16 strokes back at 238.
The tournament is being conducted by the American Junior Golf Assn. on the Palm Beach Polo and Country Club’s 5,589-yard Dunes Course.
The National Amputee Golf Assn. is offering a free instructional clinic at Singing Hills Golf Club in El Cajon Aug. 20.
