FALL SPORTS ROUNDUP : Team Effort Leads Way for La Reina

The La Reina High girls’ volleyball team swept host Fillmore, 15-4, 15-1, 15-3, Thursday to finish its Tri-Valley League season with a 12-0 record.
La Reina (14-2 overall) was led by six kills each from Carolyn Russo, Heather Freeman and Amy Crotty. Freeman added six blocks and Sheri Sisco recorded four aces. Sisco and Russo also turned in strong back-row performances.
La Reina, ranked second in the Southern Section 2-A Division, will begin playoff action at home on Thursday.
In other volleyball matches:
Royal d. Simi Valley, 15-5, 15-10, 15-5--Junior Wende Brown (13 kills) and outside hitters Beth Kohs (seven kills) and Alison Bantel (six kills) led host Royal to its first Marmonte League title since 1986.
Royal (13-1, 11-1), ranked seventh in the Southern Section 4-A, and Thousand Oaks (15-1, 11-1), ranked fourth, finished as co-champions.
Simi Valley finished 3-9 in league play.
Thousand Oaks d. Newbury Park, 15-5, 15-3, 15-9--The Lancers, 4-A finalists last season, earned a share of their fourth consecutive league title with a lopsided win at home.
All six starters for Thousand Oaks had at least three kills and the Lancers recorded 23 service aces.
Amy Chellevold had seven kills and 10 aces. Holly Hughes added five kills and two aces.
Agoura d. Santa Clara, 15-4, 15-10, 15-10--Agoura (12-3, 10-0), the No. 2-ranked Southern Section 3-A team, closed out an undefeated Frontier League season at Santa Clara. Freshman Tracy Heflin led Agoura with 10 kills.
Calabasas d. Santa Ynez, 15-5, 15-9, 12-15, 15-5--Outside hitter Keri Ellman registered 15 kills to lead the host Coyotes (7-9, 5-5) to a Frontier League win.
Village Christian d. Montclair Prep, 16-14, 15-4, 15-6--Michelle Punyavatsut led Village Christian (12-3, 8-2) with five digs in an Alpha League match at home.
L.A. Baptist d. Western Christian, 15-1, 15-8, 15-6--L.A. Baptist (14-1, 10-0) won an Alpha League match at Western Christian behind 11 kills by Andrea Lucadam and seven kills by Monica Davis.
Western Christian is 6-14, 2-8 in league play.
Sylmar d. Poly, 15-7, 15-6, 15-10--Carie Fuller had eight kills, four service aces and two blocks for host Sylmar (10-4, 5-1) in the East Valley League match.
Teammate Griselda Vasquez had six kills, six service aces and 19 assists.
Water Polo
Crespi 14, Mater Dei 3--Rusty King led host Crespi (15-7, 8-4) to a Del Rey League victory at Woodcrest Pool.
Jeff Campbell scored two goals for Mater Dei (15-8, 7-4).
