North Hollywood 71, Chatsworth 38--Tommy Byrdsong scored 19 points and Dana Jones added 18 to lead North Hollywood (8-0) in a first-round game.
Robert Hill added 12 points for North Hollywood, which hit seven of its first eight shots. Darryl Porter scored 11, including three three-point baskets, to lead Chatsworth (2-2).
Grant 107, Bell-Jeff 63--Grant (5-0) hit 59% of its field-goal attempts and 65% of its three-point tries. The Lancers made six of eight three-point attempts in the first quarter en route to a 35-8 lead.
Keith Weinstein, a 6-1 senior guard who scored a season-high 34 points, treated the three-point shot as if it was a layup. He made seven of eight three-point shots and scored 28 first-half points.
Grant (5-0) was 21 of 30 from the field in the first half--including 10 of 13 from three-point range--and held a 61-24 halftime lead.
El Camino Real 62, Poly 36--El Camino Real’s superior size and quickness overwhelmed Poly. Allen Chenen scored 15 points and Scott Huse added 14 for El Camino Real (2-2). Jason Wilson scored 12 points to lead Poly (0-7).
Bert Mitchell had 10 points and 13 rebounds for El Camino Real.
