Westminster Forfeits in Football

WESTMINSTER — Westminster High School has forfeited its only 1989 football victory on the field because the team used an ineligible player, athletic director Stan Clark said Wednesday.
Westminster (0-10) forfeited a 9-7 Sunset League victory over Marina and a previous forfeiture from Huntington Beach. Marina’s record improves to 4-6 with the forfeiture.
Westminster becomes the third member of the Sunset League to forfeit a football game for using an ineligible player.
Huntington Beach forfeited eight victories and its share of the Sunset League title when it was discovered that starting right tackle David Roman had failed to establish residency within the school’s attendance area with his legal guardian.
Fountain Valley forfeited two nonleague victories and a league victory over Huntington Beach when it was discovered that running back Rob Dubar had failed to apply for a district transfer when his family moved from Fountain Valley to an apartment in Huntington Beach’s attendance area.
Fountain Valley forfeited Huntington Beach’s forfeiture and Westminster forfeited Huntington Beach’s forfeiture. In cases of a double forfeit, each team receives a loss.
