Santa Margarita Beats Valley Christian

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA — Sophomore guard Kristin Mulligan scored 15 of her game-high 26 points in the fourth quarter to lead Santa Margarita High School to a 44-41 victory over Valley Christian Thursday in an Olympic League girls’ basketball game.
Sarah Witte added 10 points for Santa Margarita (12-6 overall and 7-2 in league play). It was the first league defeat for first-place Valley Christian (8-1).
Valley Christian led, 32-21, at the end of the third quarter, but Santa Margarita switched from a zone to a man-to-man defense to help the comeback.
